Competition...Each year we hold an annual competition when members may submit examples of their skills in one of several categories. To help members prepare entries for the competition and to further their skills generally, we hold occasional "Skills Clinics" when a member will demonstrate a particular skill or technique. Recent clinics have covered the weathering of rolling stock, the construction of etched brass kits and, most recently, scenic modelling for less experienced members. For pictures of the entries to our last competition, visitGuidance Notes1. A competition may be organised annually at the discretion of the Committee2. The competition will be judged by those members present at the competition3. A Competition Organiser will be appointed by the Committee4. Each entry may only appear in one class5. An entry form must accompany each entry6. The choice of class for each entry will be determined in conjunction with the Organiser. Any dispute will be decided by the Committee, whose decision will be final7. A card with a description of the entry, showing the materials used, work undertaken, and where appropriate the kit manufacturer, must be displayed alongside each entryThe ClassesClass Description 1Scales less than 3.5mm, e.g. TT, 2mm, N and Z1ALocos1BRolling stock1CBuildings and structures, track and lineside equipment2Scales of 3.5mm up to but excluding 6.35mm (¼in), e.g. S4, EM, OO, HO, S, 009 and HOm2ALocos2BRolling stock2CBuildings and structures and track and lineside equipment 36.35mm (¼in) and above, e.g. O, Scale 7, On30, O-16.5 and G3ALocos3BRolling stock3CBuildings, structures, track and lineside equipmentRunner's Up Certificates will be awarded where appropriate.Definitions as re-defined in August 2011LOCOMOTIVE - a powered vehicle excluding railmotors and multiple unit motor coachesROLLING STOCK - all other vehicles not defined in 1. above including railmotors, multiple unit motor coaches and sets of coaches, parcels vans and wagonsBUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES - all types of buildings including station buildings, engine, goods, carriage and train sheds, signal boxes, bridges and viaducts and all other brick, wood or stone structures, also dioramas and scenesLINESIDE EQUIPMENT - track, signals, overhead line equipment and any other similar equipment
