Escott was loosely based on Egham station in Surrey although the track plan
was freelance. The station had a small goods yard and a refuge siding
allowing a range of operating potential. The fiddle yard had 11 roads all
split into 2 sections allowing a maximum of 22 trains to be stabled in the
yard.
In its later years the layout was rewired to simplify operation and an
extension built to one end. At the opposite end a link was built to allow
trains to run onto PETA, although this link was never fully utilised.
After approximately 10 years service to the club appearing at many
exhibitions faultlessly it was decided that a new N gauge layout should be
built utilising newer standards and scenic techniques, the layout was sold in
later part of 2003 to make way for the new layout West Tilgate.
